You can have a week dedicated to nerd music without throwing in some Video Game Metal. Yes that's another silly little sub genre. Powerglove is a power metal band that metals up some video game and TV music. Named after the old NES accessory The Powerglove, the band has released two albums and an EP to date. "Saturday Morning Apocalypse' is their latest effort and it blends power metal and speed metal with such classics as 'The Simpsons' theme and the Pokemon theme. Yes it's a total cheese factor, but it's oh so amusing.
Granted bands have taken the video game music in different directions over the years. Zelda and Final Fantasy have gotten the orchestral treatments. While struggling power metal guitarist will doodle around with various themes. There's been some great video game music over the years, but this just makes it fun and cheesy.
